Media Statement from KwaZulu Natal Media Centre Today, at about 11:00, Richmond police made a breakthrough at Mzinolovu in the Richmond area and arrested a 24-year-old suspect for allegedly killing his 25-year-old girlfriend Lungile Shezi. Last night, 16 March 2015 at approximately 21:55, the couple allegedly had an argument that led to the suspect fatally stabbing Shezi. She sustained multiple stab wounds to the body. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. This morning Richmond police received information of the whereabouts of the suspect and proceeded to Mzinolovu area where he was arrested. The arrested suspect will make his first court appearance in the Richmond Magistrates’ Court soon.
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni welcomed the arrest made by the members. “We hope that the suspect will serve a long term in jail if found guilty,” she said.
