GQEBERHA - Immediate mobilisation of detective and uniformed members of SAPS Kabega Park led to the speedy arrest of two alleged house robbery suspects yesterday morning, 10 November 2022.

It is alleged that at about 04:40 on the mentioned date, the complainant (71) was sitting outside on the step, smoking, at a retirement village in Tulbach Street in Kabega Park when he was surprised by an unknown male who threatened him with a knife. Another unknown male joined them and together they ordered the complainant into his house. The complainant's wife, who was also in the house, woke up. The suspects stole a TV set, a laptop, wallet and two cellphones. The estimated value of the items is R68 000.

While still busy with the investigation at the scene, detectives received and followed up on information about the suspects’ whereabouts in Malabar Extension 6. At about 08:00, the two suspects aged 30 and 33 years old were behind bars. All the stolen property except for the TV and the wallet were recovered.

Both suspects were detained on a charge of house robbery and will appear in the St Alban’s magistrate court on Friday, 11 November 2022. Detectives are also investigating their possible involvement in other cases of house robbery and theft in the Kabega Park area.
