Mfuleni SAPS members arrested three suspects in Wesbank yesterday for possession of prohibited firearms and dangerous weapons.

As Crime Prevention Unit members were doing their routine patrols in the area, they spotted two males running towards the patrol vehicle. One male saw the vehicle and immediately threw away a homemade firearm with chamber and ammunition. The members searched the second male and found a knife. A third suspect was arrested in the corners of Volgevlei and Appleby Road with a zip gun.

The three suspects were detained at Mfuleni SAPS, they will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s court, once they have been charged.

Meanwhile members attached to Western Cape Public Order Policing were patrolling in Hindle Road, Eindhoven, Delft when they came across a victim who had just been robbed of a cellular telephone at gun point. The members pursued the suspect on foot and a 34 year old male was arrested. He had an imitation firearm which they seized and the cellular telephone of the victim. Once charged, he will make his court appearance in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s court.
