WESTERN CAPE - Attempts to eradicate the lucrative drug trade in the Western Cape continues as the strategic deployment of members attached to the Breede River K9 Unit yielded positive results when they arrested a suspect and confiscated drugs, 1008 Mandrax to the value of almost R300 000-00.

On Monday, 5 December 2022, the members were performing crime combatting operations which forms part of the Safer Festive Season operational deployment when they spotted the suspect near the railway line in Zwelentemba, Worcester. They accosted the suspect, ensued with a search and found the drugs that were concealed in a plastic bag, on him. They subsequently arrested the 30-year-old suspect and detained him at the local police holding cells.

He will appear in the Worcester magistrates’ court once charged for the Illegal Dealing in Drugs.
