POLOKWANE - The Police in Lulekani have recovered electric cable at Matiko Xikaya Village on Friday, 25 July 2025, during an intelligence driven operation.

The team received information about the suspect who was in possession of suspected stolen electric cables. They activated an operation at the identified location. The suspect was not found, but Police recovered a suspected stolen cable about 15 meters long. The cable was sized. It is at an estimated value of R2000.00.

Subsequent to Police investigations, the cable was linked with a case of tempering and damaging or destroying of essential infrastructure that occurred on 24 July 2025 at the same vicinity of Matiko Xikaya Village where the suspect cut off a cable supplying electricity at one of the houses in the Village.

A manhunt to launch a search the suspect is currently underway.
