WESTERN CAPE - Following a shooting incident this morning, Sunday, 2026-03-01 at 06:45, at a premises in Bossanger Street, Robinvale, Atlantis, members found two firearms abandoned.

Atlantis SAPS members heard gunshots while patrolling in Dura Flats and following the sounds they noticed two persons running away from where the gunshots emanated.

The members saw that the suspects threw something away and upon returning to the place where the items were thrown, the members found two firearms, a 9mm pistol with two 9mm cartridges and a black Ekol Viper 4.5 revolver.

Despite a pursuit by police, the suspects evaded arrest, and when the members returned to the mentioned address, they found two male victims aged 28 and 33 that were shot and injured. The injured victims were taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The motive for this shooting incident is believed to be gang related.

On further investigation of the firearms, it was discovered that the 9mm pistol was reported stolen at Themba SAPS in Gauteng in August 1997 and the Ekol Viper 4.5 revolver was not registered. Investigations continue.

Both firearms were handed in at Atlantis SAPS as exhibits and for further processing on the two counts of attempted murder case.
