The Detectives at Port Shepstone Organised Crime Unit are making an urgent appeal for information regarding the whereabouts of two men in the attached photographs. The men, identified as Xolani Mpisane (33) and Lungani Gumbi aka Mpetha (28) are wanted for an armed robbery case that occurred in February 2013. Warrant for their arrests has been issued.

It is alleged that on 11 February 2013 at approximately 12:45 the security guards were delivering cash to a bank at Margate Street, Ixopo, when they were approached by a group of armed suspects who threatened them with firearms. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash as well as a firearm belonging to one of the security guards before they fled the scene on foot. No one was injured during the robbery. Later during an intensive investigation, two suspects, Thobani Shozi (25) and Wandile Khumalo (24) were arrested and charged with armed robbery. Wandile Khumalo pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the Ixopo Regional Court in November last year. Thobani is still in custody pending his trial in March 2014 and is also facing another case of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle in Newcastle.

Police are making an appeal to anyone that can assist with any information regarding the whereabouts of the above persons to urgently contact the investigating officer Detective Warrant Officer Stompie Sonnekus on his cell phone number 0827788932 or our Crime Stop number 08600 10111.

Wanted suspects are from left Xolani Mpisane and Lungani Gumbi.
