CAPE TOWN - After months of intricate investigative work into the unlawful expansion of the Western Cape education department learner transport grant that saw SAPS Western Cape Commercial Crimes Investigations detectives executing 17 warrants of arrests today in a staggered fashion in Paarl, Atlantis, Philadelphia and Wellington. 

The 17 arrested suspects comprising nine women and eight men between the ages of 35 and 60, include members of the school governing body in Atlantis that have been charged with theft, forgery, fraud and uttering to the value of R12 million. They are expected to appear in the Atlantis Magistrate’s court on Friday, 10 March 2023.
