FREE STATE - The police need community assistance with information that may lead to arrests of suspects who allegedly attacked police officer and his friend in the early hours of Sunday, 09 April 2023, at Bochabela Village. It's alleged that on 9 April 2023 at about 02:00 the police officer who was off duty was walking with a friend from a nearby tavern at Bochabela Village. Apparently they met a group of unknown men who attacked them, in the process the police officer was struck with a sharp objects on his head and fell on the ground whilst the friend managed to escape. The group also fled the scene of foot. The police and ambulance were summoned to scene at about 09:00 and attended the crime scene. The victim was declared dead. A case of murder is being investigated.
