Anti-Gang Unit hard at work to bring suspects to book

WESTERN CAPE - Following sporadic shooting incidents in the Mitchell’s Plain policing precinct, members of the Anti-Gang Unit were deployed to the area to combat gang violence and bring the perpetrators thereof to book.

The members conducted an intelligence driven operation in the Tafelsig area on Tuesday, 02 May 2023, where they searched a premises in Cathedral Street and confiscated a 9 mm pistol, a 38 special revolver and an assortment of ammunition of various calibres. A 42 year old man was arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The members also arrested a 28-year-old suspect who was sought for an attempted murder case in the Mitchell’s Plain area.

Once charged they will appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates court on the mentioned charges.
