WESTERN CAPE - The Paarl Regional Court have on 21 July 2025 sentenced Christiaan Francious Burger (40) for Contravention of the Income Tax Act.

It was reported that Burger failed to submit tax returns for the period 2011 to 2022. This matter was reported to the Hawks' Serious Commercial Crime Investigation for probing and on 21 July 2025, the accused was found guilty and sentenced on twelve counts as follows:

Count 1 to 12: sentenced to a fine of R6000-00 or twelve months imprisonment on each count of which R2000-00 or four months imprisonment on each count was suspended. Effectively, Burger was fined R48 000-00 or 96 months (8 years) imprisonment.
