WESTERN CAPE - The Wynberg Regional Court has on 04 October 2023 convicted and sentenced Mark Anthony Overmeyer (56) for dealing in drugs, Section 5(b) of the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act, Act 140 of 1992. Overmeyer was sentenced to a term of five years’ imprisonment of which two years’ is suspended for a period of five years’.

The accused will furthermore be requisitioned to appear at Khayelitsha Court on a case of dealing in drugs. He was arrested for during 2014 where he was handed a five year imprisonment which was wholly suspended for a period of five years’.

This sentence follows after the Bellville based South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) team in conjunction with Metro police followed up information in May 2016 about a vehicle that was transporting drugs in Lotus River, Grassy Park.

The occupant of the vehicle was arrested after 6544 mandrax tablets were discovered and seized. The total value of the drugs was R196 320.00
