Police in Ekurhuleni continue to clamp down on crime in the district

Police in Ekurhuleni District arrested two suspects, aged 29 and 35, in Tembisa on Monday, 15 May 2023 and recovered a hijacked vehicle following an intelligence-driven operation.

A team comprising of members from Ekurhuleni District Crime Intelligence, Gauteng Highway Patrol and SAPS Tembisa Tracing Team operationalised information they obtained on suspects allegedly linked to a spate of house robberies around the area of Winnie Mandela, Tembisa.

The suspects' vehicle was detected near a mall in Tembisa and it was subsequently intercepted. Preliminary investigation revealed that the said vehicle is linked to a hijacking case reported in Newcastle during October 2022.

In another unrelated incident, on Tuesday, 16 May 2023 a team comprising of members from Ekurhuleni District Crime Intelligence and SAPS Daveyton arrested a suspect for unlawful possession of ammunition following a community tip-off.

 

Further investigation is still underway.
