Media Statement LIBODE - The OR Tambo District Commissioner, Major General Norman Modishana welcomed the arrest of a 52-year-old man of Dokotela locality, Libode on Friday, 15 August 2025, after he and his accomplice allegedly killed a 72-year-old man on Tuesday, 12 August 2025 and hanged him with a rope to appear as suicide. The 72-year-old man was found dead, hanging from the roof of his house and preliminary investigation revealed that the man was first strangled with a rope by two male suspects before he was hanged to appear as having committed suicide. The motive is alleged to be robbery of his money that the suspects knew it was kept in the house safe. The arrested 52-year-old was the deceased's chauffer, and his alleged accomplice is still at large and police are still high on his heels to apprehend him. The suspect will appear before Libode Magistrate's Court on Monday, 18 August 2025 on a charge of murder. "This was a well orchestrated murder and police will get to the bottom of this so that perpetrators can be brought to book for such inhumane act. Justice has to be served for the 72-year-old", said Major General Modishana. Ends
