KING WILLIAM’S TOWN - The SAPS Eastern Cape hosted a National Shooting Championship 2019. The Championship was officially opened on Tuesday at Bhisho Shooting Range.

A National Shooting Championship is where SAPS Provinces come together to compete against each other to sharpen their shooting skills. The shooting sessions took three (3) days and the results were announced over a Gala Dinner on Thursday evening at Amathola Conference in King William’s Town.

Captain Vass opened the event with a scripture reading and prayer. Brigadier Breytenbach who is the National President addressed the members congratulating them for their achievements on the games. He said in the future if the number of members increases then they will have to expand the days of the games. Brigadier Hynd in his key note he said the sport does not only better the skill but it also encourages the members to use the most important tool in the Police Service with pride. Then members were awarded medals and trophies chronologically on their stages and teams.

Women’s Category 2019

De Wit V, (Head Office)

Strydom C, (Mpumalanga)

Stoop A, (Western Cape)

Men’s Category 2019

Laurie EB, (Head Office)

Hattingh DJ, (Freestate)

Van Wyk CB, (Gauteng)

The National team was selected from the best participants.
