EASTERN CAPE - The District law enforcement agencies opened the Women's month on the N6 road at Komani and R56 at Khowa by conducting roadblocks on Friday 01 August 2025. The stakeholders that partook in the roadblocks included SAPS Women in blue, SAPS Women's Network, Traffic Officials and members attached to Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit (VCIU), Family and Child Sexual Offences (FCS) and Employee Health and Wellness (EHW). During these roadblocks, fines were issued to an amount of R38 100-00 to motorists who broke the traffic laws. As part of SAPS mission to ensure safety and security for all, vehicles and luggage were searched and body searching was done in searching of drugs, unlicensed firearms and drugs. Motorists were also issued with pamphlets and engaged them on offenses ranging from Gender Based Violence, human trafficking, illegal possession of firearms and Stock Theft among others. The women in management within the District commended the women for an execution of a successful operations. This is the beginning of many operations led by women during this month, as women we will stamp the authority and we guarantee safety for all, law enforcement women were motivated by their commanders.
The Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Vukile Ntandane is pleased with the dedication he witnessed as Basadi were carrying out their duties in a dignified manner.
