GQEBERHA - The SAPS in Nelson Mandela Bay District would like to inform the community of protest actions on the Addo Road, Motherwell.

The protest actions are continuing from earlier today, Wednesday 07 June 2023. Public Order Policing have been deployed in the area of Addo Road, from M17 until the Monument Crossing. Approximately 300 protesters continued late this afternoon with the blocking of road, burning of tyres and stone throwing. The reason for the protest is due to electricity and sanitation problems. Their agitation exacerbated when their concerns were not addressed by the municipality.

The SAPS and Metro Police have closed the road for the safety of the motorists and truck drivers. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
