Media Statement POLOKWANE - The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has hailed the recent apprehension of a 23-year-old male suspect alleged to be responsible for a series of offences committed in Sekhukhune District between August 2021 and June 2023. The suspect was apprehended during operation "Kukula" that was jointly conducted by the members of the Nebo Tracing Team and Detectives, Jane Furse Police and Lebowakgomo Crime Intelligence Unit on Wednesday, 14 June 2023 until in the early hours of Thursday, 15 June 2023. Police received information about the location of the suspect in Jane Furse area and he was immediately spotted walking along the public road when they attempted to stop him. In an attempt to evade arrest, the suspect started to ran and members chased after him. A massive search was conducted in the area that subsequently resulted to his apprehension from his hiding place, inside a sugarcane plantation. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was also positively linked with Masemola, Nebo, Rossenekal, Jane Furse cases that were previously opened at these policing precincts. The cases in question comprises of business robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm, murders, carjacking, house robbery and possession of stolen properties. The police managed to recover six cellphones believed to belong to the victims, as well as an empty magazine and Sony PlayStation Game. "The tremendous work of the man and woman in blue reaffirms our commitment to our communities that we shall relentlessly reclaim our streets from criminals for the safety of our people. Let the courts help us to the perpetrator and his accomplices from our communities as they don't deserve freedom". Concluded Lieutenant General Hadebe.
