Joint Media Statement NORTH WEST - Thabang Calvin Ndlovu (25) was on Wednesday, 26 February 2025 sentenced to 10 years imprisonment on charges of fraud when he appeared before the Klerksdorp Specialised Commercial Crime Court. His sentence emanates from an incident in December 2021 where the accused allegedly went to a car dealership in Klerksdorp to apply for financing of a Volkswagen kombi to the value of R542 000,00. Reports indicated that Ndlovu submitted fraudulent documents and his motor vehicle finance was approved by the bank. He subsequently received a vehicle which he never made any payment for since its purchase. The bank suffered a total loss of R542 000,00. The matter was referred to the Klerksdorp based Hawks' Serious Commercial Crime Investigation for further handling which led to his arrest on May 2023. He made several court appearances until he was sentenced to 10 years direct imprisonment. The North West Acting Head for the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Brigadier Silas Munzhedzi and the Director of Public Prosecutions in North West commended the investigation and prosecution team for their commitment in the fight against commercial criminality and ensuring that perpetrators are brought to book.
