AMATHOLE DISTRICT - On Saturday evening, 18 March 2023, members of Tactical Response Team (TRT) received and followed up on information about a vehicle that was transporting drugs from East London to Butterworth.

The members set up a vehicle checkpoint (VCP) near Komga filling station and succeeded in stopping the alleged vehicle and upon searching it, they recovered five bags of tik.

Two suspects aged 27 and 29 were arrested and charged for possession of drugs while one of them was also charged for failing to produce a valid passport.

The duo will appear before Komga Magistrate’S Court on Monday, 20 March 2023.
