Media Statement POLOKWANE - The Police in Mankweng outside Polokwane have launched a manhunt for a house breaking and attempted rape suspect following an incident that occurred at Mentz Badimong in the early hours of Saturday, 07 March 2026. It is alleged that the victim sister was sleeping with her younger sister in the same house when she heard the younger sister screaming. She went to check up on her sister and noticed the suspect who is also their neighbour, coming out of the victim's room, and he ran away. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect gained entry through the window and found the victim sleeping. He allegedly strangled her while also attempting to rape her. The victim fortunately managed to scream for help. The suspect took the victim’s cellphone before he fled the scene. The victim only realized when she wanted to call the police that her cellphone was missing. The Police were summoned to the scene and later registered an attempted rape and house breaking and theft case docket. The members of Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit (FCS) were notified about the case docket for their further investigation.
