THABONG - Members of Crime Intelligence received information from residents of Thabong about a male person who was in possession of a firearm. The information was operationalised by the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit, whereby a room in a hostel was searched, earlier today.

During the search, a 9mm firearm with the serial number clearly visible and eight (8) live rounds were found. A 28-year-old man could not provide the SAPS members with a license for the firearm and he was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He will appear on 28 August 2023 in Welkom Magistrate Court.
