Western Cape police are pleased with the lengthy sentences handed down by Judge Veldhuizen today to the so-called Gumtree murderers in the Western Cape High Court, which is directly attributed to the investigation by dedicated detectives.     

The sentence summary is as follows:

POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED AMMUNITION

The other accused, Shawaal Staggie and Tania Majied were both acquitted on all charges. 

Accused, Soegbudien Abvajee, is also currently serving a 18 years sentence on armed robbery. He was released on parole about four months prior to this incident.

Accused Rameez Felix is also currently serving an eight years sentence on business robbery. As a result of this case he was successfully linked to the business robbery case and was sentenced in January 2013 for business robbery.
