Police intensify investigations following house robbery, kidnapping and murder of a man (27)

POLOKWANE - The Police in Ritavi launched a manhunt for two unknown suspects who robbed, kidnapped and murdered a 27-year-old man between 14 and 15 September 2023 at Nkowankowa in Ritavi Policing area.

It is alleged that two unknown suspects wearing balaclavas broke into a house at Nkowankowa Section A where they threatened and a tied a woman with a rope. They waited in the house until her boyfriend came back. They attacked him and demanded money and car keys for a Golf 7 vehicle that was parked in the yard. They forced the two into an NP 200 bakkie belonging to one of the victims and drove off.

While on the way, the 23-year-old woman jumped out of the moving vehicle and ran away. The matter was reported to the police and a Manhunt for the suspects ensued.

In the early hours of Friday, 15 September 2023, the Police found the victim severely injured along Letsitele Valley Road few metres away from his NP 200 bakkie. The emergency services were summoned to the scene and the victim was certified dead at the scene. He was identified as Thabang Macheke (27).

The motive behind the incident is unknown and police investigations continues.
