KIMBERLEY - The Northern Cape SAPS Management welcomes the sentencing of a 30-year-old man from Springbok for raping a 5-year-old girl.

On 1 November 2020 the victim walked from her home to a nearby shop when she was accosted by the accused, who took her to his shack and raped her.

The victim told her mother and the accused was arrested. He was found guilty of rape and sentenced to 25 years imprisonment on 3 November 2023.

The Provincial Head for Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offenses (FCS), Brig Sipho Kheswa applauded Sgt Anthea Cloete Landrew of Springbok FCS Unit for her excellent investigation that resulted in the outstanding sentence, especially as we are approaching the 16 Days of activism for No violence against women and children campaign.
