Media Statement from KwaZulu-Natal Media Centre Two suspects aged 20 and 37 are due to appear in the Verulam Magistrates Court today for possession of drugs. They were arrested yesterday by police officers from the eThekwini Outer North Cluster and Umlazi K9 Unit. Drugs to the street value of R5,800-00 as well as cash of R6,480-00 were recovered. On Monday, 19 June 2017 a joint intelligence driven drug operation by the eThekwini Outer North Cluster assisted by the Umlazi K9 Currency Unit, was conducted at Phoenix. Police had gathered intelligence with regards to some houses in the area which were suspected to be used as drug dens. Raids were conducted on the identified houses which resulted in two suspects being arrested. They were found in possession of 240 capsules of heroin with a street value of R5,800-00. Police also recovered R6,480-00 in cash which is suspected to be from the proceeds of illegal activities. The KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa praised the police officers involved in the operation. “Our police officers will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those who are dealing or using drugs in the province are brought to book. We wish to encouraged our communities to continue exposing those involved in drug dealing. We have dedicated and experienced police officers who are committed to dealing with criminals in a decisive manner,” he said. -End-
