ZWELITSHA – The Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga hosted a Strategic Planning session today with her senior management at Zwelitsha SAPS Head Office today, 16 March 2021.

This crucial gathering for rejuvenation of the organizational approach to fight crime was attended by the Head of Department, Safety and Liaison, Mr V Mapolisa, Deputy Provincial Commissioners, District Commissioners, Station Commanders, Provincial and Unit Commanders as well as Chairperson of the CPF Board, Mr Mbiza.

Making her remarks, Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga said the strategic planning session 2021/2022 financial year, is a gathering and opportunity to introspect, to review and chat the way for new strategies that will improve the work of the organisation.

"Our mission today, is to ensure that we leave this place, having achieved our goals and targets. I personally have great expectations for this session, and wish to encourage all of you to adopt the same attitude in order for us to be motivated to achieve our stated goals. As we engage on a number of strategic issues today, we must take a rear-view mirror to see where we have come, our present position and evidently where we should be going."

She told attendees that the planning must be such that EC SAPS fight to remain in the top position in the country.

"This strategic planning expedition carries serious implications for our future actions, resources to be employed and partnerships to be established and strengthened. We therefore must throw all our weights and focus our minds appropriately and with precision during our deliberations. This will allow us to confirm the extent to which the SAPS's performance has fallen short from original objectives of the Plan," she added.

She expressed her hope that all will emerge from this session with a simple and smart but impact loaded package for the province.

"We must utilise these few hours to consolidate our top position and refine our final plan to sustain our gains."

The meeting was also having the honour of hosting a group of hardworking, dedicated and motivated young junior police officers who have been exemplary and very productive in various policing environments.  They were invited to attend and observe how senior management deliberate on ways to fight crime best. The climax of the event was the awarding of certificates to the group of 'High Flyers' to encourage and motivate them.

Lt Gen Ntshinga thanked stakeholders for their continued support and commitment.
