36-year-old Suspect behind bars for allegedly hacking man to death in Seshego

POLOKWANE - A 36-year-old male suspect has been arrested for allegedly hacking a man to death with a panga after meeting him on the street in Seshego.

The incident took place in the early hours of today at about 00:30 in Mmotong dairing Village.

According to information available at this stage, the 29-year-old victim was walking along the street when he was approached by the suspect who attacked and hacked him a panga several times. He then fled the scene.

Police and emergency medical services were notified about the incident. The victim was certified dead on the scene.

The suspect was apprehended at his home immediately after police arrived at the scene.

Police have opened a case of murder. The motive for the incident is not yet known.

Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has applauded the swift arrest of the suspect.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Seshego Magistrate's Court on Monday 20 November 2023 facing a charge of murder
