FREE STATE - Members of Welkom Public Order Policing were on duty busy with crime combatting on 18 November 2023 at about 02:15 next to one of the Mall in Welkom CBD, when they stopped a white Toyota Voxy with registration numbers from neighbouring country.

There were three occupants and a request was made to search the vehicle. While they were busy, a firearm in the side pocket of the driver's door.  Preliminary investigation reveals that a house was visited at Hani Park extension 18 Bronville. The vehicle was also seized.

The suspects aged 29, 35 and 54 years old were arrested for Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunitions, and they will appear on the 21 November 2023 in Welkom Magistrate Court.
