JOUBERTON: A 42-year-old suspect who is also a traditional healer appeared in Klerksdorp Magistrates' Court on Monday, 05 May 2014 for allegedly raping a 27-year-old woman.

The incident took place on Sunday, 03 May 2014 at approximately 15:30 at Extension 2 in Jouberton. It is alleged that the victim visited the suspect for treatment. Upon arrival at the suspect's place, the victim was allegedly instructed to remove her trousers after which she was raped. The case is postponed until Friday, 09 May 2014 for bail application.

Police would like to advise the community to be careful about unscrupulous traditional healers.

In another unrelated case in Jouberton, a 37-year-old suspect who was on parole also appeared in Klerksdorp Magistrates' Court on Monday, 05 May 2014 for rape.

It is alleged that the suspect raped his 23-year-old sister at Extension 1 during March this year after calling her to his bedroom. According to the information available at this stage, the suspect was allegedly released on parole in January 2014 for raping the same victim in 2002.

The suspect was remanded in custody and will appear in court again on Monday, 12 May 2014 for bail application. Investigation continues.

KLERKSDORP: A 49-year-old male suspect appeared in Klerksdorp Magistrates' Court for attempted murder that occurred on Sunday, 05 May 2014 at a local taxi rank. He will appear again on 26 May 2014 for further investigation. He was granted bail of R800, 00. It is alleged that a 20-year-old victim was found lying and bleeding from the lower body at a taxi rank. The suspect allegedly got angry when the victim joked with him, and he took out the firearm and shot the victim. The latter was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

POTCHEFSTROOM: A 48-year-old suspect was arrested for allegedly stabbing a 54-year-old man at Wilgeboom Farm along Viljoenskroon road on Sunday, 04 May 2014.

According to the information, the victim was stabbed with a knife in his chest and he subsequently died on the scene after an argument with the suspect.

The suspect appeared in Potchefstroom Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 06 May 2014. He was remanded in custody until Friday, 09 May 2014 for bail application.
