POLOKWANE - The Police Detectives attached to Modimolle Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit have launched manhunt for a rape suspect, who is unknown to the victim. The suspect raped a 27-year-old woman and robbed her off a cell phone on Friday, 08 December 2023, at around 15:30 in the bushes next to railway, at Mookgopong policing area. The complainant alleges that she was on her way home, coming from work, when she met an unknown man to her, who threatened her with a knife and robbed her off a cell phone. He further dragged the victim into the bushes, where he raped her and then fled the scene on foot. The victim reported the incident to her family, and a rape case and robbery with weapon were opened at Mookgopong police station. The cases were transferred to Modimolle Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit for further investigations.
