VILJOENSKROON - A 34-year-old foreign national, has been arrested for possession of counterfeit cigarettes at Vilijoenskroon.

On Saturday, 16 December 2023 at about 10:00, the Fezile Dabi District Trio Task Team members were deployed at Vilijoenskroon. Whilst carrying out their duties, they received information regarding a man who’s alleged to be dealing in counterfeit cigarettes.

The members followed the information and managed to spot and stop the suspicious vehicle, inside the vehicle was one male occupant. The Members searched the vehicle and discovered illicit cigarettes.

 They proceeded to the suspect's residence and boxes of illicit cigarettes were discovered. Thirteen boxes of illicit cigarettes to the street value of about R55 000 was confiscated.

The suspect will appear before the Viljoenskroon Magistrate Court soon on the charges of Possession of Counterfeit Cigarettes.
