BLOEMFONTEIN: The execution of different operational concepts as part of Operation Shanela to ensure Safer Festive Season in Mangaung Metro continues. Various units of the South African Police Service, Department of Home Affairs; Immigration Officers and Provincial Traffic Inspectors took part in roadblocks assembled on N8 East National Road between Bloemfontein and Maseru with the second phase held on M10 leading to Mangaung townships.

During the two activities, six (6) undocumented person were arrested. Sixty-eight (68) traffic fines were issued in terms of National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996 and four (4) mini busses were impounded for not being roadworthy; 686 motor vehicles and 1650 people were also searched.

All arrested persons will appear in court soon.
