Western Cape: Through operations that have been executed during this week, 198 arrests were executed relating to drugs. 654 800 milliliters of alcohol, mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R 8 000.00, Tik with an estimated street value of R36 150.00 and dagga to the estimated street value of R2 250.00 have been confiscated.

As a result of tracing operations held this week, 19 wanted suspects have been arrested.  

A total of 614 suspects have been arrested for charges relating to murder, attempted murder, assault common, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), drunk and driving, possession of dangerous weapon, malicious damage to property, house breaking and theft, possession of unlicensed firearm, dealing in liquor without a licence, intimidation, theft out of motor vehicle, use of vehicle without owner’s consent, domestic violence, fraud, possession of stolen motor vehicle, possession of hijacked vehicle and rape  with 43 suspects were kept overnight and were released on fines as they committed crimes like being drunk in public, gambling in public or riotous behaviour.

On Monday (2015-06- 29), Belhar police were patrolling in Hanover Street in Belhar when they stopped a vehicle to search it. They found in the vehicle a police firearm, with the serial number filled off, with 1 magazine and 15 rounds of ammunition. Two males, aged 26 and 27, were arrested for possession of prohibited firearm and illegal ammunition.

On Wednesday (2015-07- 01) at approximately 05:45, the complainant was busy getting water from outside her house in Thubelitsha in Delft, when four unidentified males approached her with a firearm. They asked her for money and she told them that she does not have it. They closed her mouth and took her into her house where they searched the house and took a laptop, Ipod, camera, hard drive and cash of R3 500.00. The same day Delft police followed up information and arrested three males for possession of presumed stolen property with most of the stolen property from the house in Thubelitsha recovered.

On Saturday (2015-07- 04) at approximately 06:30, Delft police were busy patrolling when they stopped a maroon Ford Laser at Madikane Street in Delft . When the members tested the vehicle, they learned that it was reported stolen at Diepriver SAPS. It was stolen on Friday, 2015-07-03, between 08:00 and 18:55.  Three males between the ages of 20 and 48 years old were arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

On the same day Delft police members were busy patrolling at Eindhoven street when they saw two males busy stripping a Nissan Sentra. When the police tested the vehicle it was reported stolen at Kleinvlei SAPS. It was stolen on 25 June 2015 between 18:30 and 19:00 while it was parked at in one of the shopping centres in Eersteriver. The two suspects, aged 18 and 22, were arrested for possession of stolen motor vehicle.

On Wednesday (2015-07-01) Kleinvlei SAPS members were called to attend to a shooting incident at Heide Street in Melton Rose. On information received members searched for the suspect and found a 16-year-old suspect hiding in the open field in the grass near Melton Rose train station with a firearm, fitting the description of the shooter at Heide Street. He was arrested.

On Monday, 29 June 2015 at approximately 09:45, Kuilsriver police were busy patrolling in Kalkfontein when they stopped a vehicle to search it. They found, in the possession of the suspects, one firearm with one magazine and four rounds of ammunition and drugs. Two males aged 19 and 20 were arrested  and face charges of possession of drugs, illegal firearm and ammunition.

In Mfuleni SAPS, during this week, four firearms have been confiscated, one in Burundi Squatter Camp in Mfuleni, two in Nooiensfontein Road and one in Wesbank at Reeindeer Street. 

Kuilsrivier Cluster Commander, Brigadier Vincent Beaton commended the SA Police Service members, Metro Police, Law Enforcement officers, Traffic Police, neighborhood watch structures and reservists for their dedication and commitment in ensuring the perpetrators of crime are brought to justice. He further encouraged the community to keep on assisting the police in ridding their neighborhoods of criminal elements.
