WESTERN CAPE - Anti-Gang Unit members recovered a stolen firearm and arrested a 38-year-old male suspect on Saturday, 25 October 2025. The members received intelligence about a firearm at an address in Irvine Street, Manenberg and promptly pursued it. When the members arrived at the premises, they searched and found one 9mm pistol without a serial number, two magazines and four containers of 9mm ammunition. The firearm was reported stolen in Durbanville around March 2025. The members arrested the suspect for possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition. He will make his first appearance in the Wynberg Magistrate’s court today.

In an unrelated incident, members of Manenberg police conducted a search in the same street on Sunday, 26 October 2025 and arrested another 38-year-old gang affiliated male. The police acted on information which led them to a residence in Irvine Street, Manenberg. They conducted a thorough search and found a 9mm pistol without a serial number, one magazine and fifteen rounds of ammunition. The firearm was confiscated and the suspect was arrested for illegal possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition. The suspect will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court.
