Media Statement FREE STATE - A 41-year-old suspect who is an employee at SASKO bakery depot in Botshabelo was arrested on Tuesday, 09 January 2024 at his workplace by members of the Hawks' Serious Organised Crime Investigation team based in Bloemfontein. It is alleged that on Tuesday, 22 November 2022 during the day unknown suspects at the time entered the premises of SASKO bakery depot in Botshabelo and took personnel hostage. They then waited for the arrival of G4S armed vehicle which was coming to collect money at the premises. When G4S Security officials arrived at the bakery the suspects at the time attacked the Security Officials and took their firearms and fled the scene with undisclosed amount of money. Through the information received from Crime Intelligence (CI) Bloemfontein five accused were later arrested by the police between February and November 2023 who are Letsika Cosby Mmola (33), Tumelo Hlathe Ramotshabi (39), Lebogang Martin Mokgele (37), and Teboho Benedict Letsoho (37). The other accused Khayalethu Mpangeni (30) was arrested on Saturday, 06 January 2024 by members of SAPS Intervention team in Eastern Cape. The suspect is expected to appear before the Botshabelo Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 10 January 2024. His co-accused Mpangeni is expected to appear on Tuesday, 16 January 2024 for formal bail application. The case against Mmola, Ramotshabi, Mokgele, Letsoho continues on the court roll and they are expected to appear on 02 February 2024. All the accused are facing charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances, illegal possession of firearms, illegal possession of ammunitions and conspiracy to commit a robbery. Ends
