EASTERN CAPE - Swift reaction from the OR Tambo District Task Team, K9 and Flying Squad members led to the speedy arrest of four suspects allegedly involved in the brutal murder of a 52 year old female teacher who was found stabbed in her neck at her home in Ziphunzana locality in Libode on Monday, 19 February 2024.

It is alleged that after the murder, at about 16:30, the suspects had fled in her car taking with them the aluminium windows from her house. The vehicle’s tracker system picked up a signal in the Canzibe locality under Ngqeleni policing area where the team arrested the first suspect.

Following his arrest, during the early hours of this morning, 20/02, three more suspects were arrested in Mthatha Mandela Park and Qumbu where the victim's cellphone and the stolen aluminium windows were recovered. It is further alleged that the suspects were doing renovations at the victim’s house. The victim was identified as Baleka Ntutuka.

All four suspects, aged between 26 and 34 years old are detained on charges of murder and house robbery and are expected to appear in the Libode magistrate court soon.

OR Tambo District Commissioner Major General Phumzile Cetyana commended the team for their immediate reaction to information received.’ Criminals are warned that our police officers are hot on their heels, and it is only a matter of time before their devious and heinous acts are brought to justice,’ concluded Major General Cetyana.
