LIMPOPO - The police concerted efforts to fight against the mushrooming of illegal firearms and ammunitions across the province is gaining  momentum and  this was  evident when  Mopani tracking team, SAPS Mopani highway patrol and SAPS Maake task team captured a 26-year-old male suspect at Maake Plaza for possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunitions on Thursday 26 June 2025.

The Police were conducting an intelligence-driven operation on the lookout for wanted suspects. They spotted three suspicious looking men walking along Burgersdrop main road. They kept a low profile while observing their movements.

The same suspicious people were later spotted again walking towards a local tavern down the main road, and were tactically approached and stopped.

When the multidisciplinary forces were busy conducting a search, one suspect was found in possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunitions.
