Media Statement SARAH BAARTMAN DISTRICT - SAPS Cookhouse members swiftly acted on intelligence received of drugs being transported on the N10 towards Somerset East and Cradock. Their immediate response, resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the confiscation of a substantial amount of drugs. It is alleged that on Thursday, 29 February 2024 at about 12:00, members of SAPS Cookhouse stopped a white Nissan NP 200 bakkie on the N10 and searched it. A total of 1030 mandrax tablets, and 219 grams of tik were found. Also, 498 mandrax tablets was found strapped around the waist of one of the suspect’s. The estimated value of the confiscated drugs is R135 000. Two suspects, aged 41 and 72, were arrested and detained on a charges of dealing in drugs. They are expected to appear in the Somerset East Magistrate’s Court today, 01 March 2024. Sarah Baartman District Commissioner, Maj Gen Zolani Xawuka applauded the members involved for speedy their reaction to the information received. Ends
