NELSPRUIT - There has been a breakthrough on a case of stock theft whereby four suspects, identified as Sibusiso Themba Maseko (32), Sandile Treasure Simelane (33), Fanfikile Elmon Maseko (38) and Nhlanhla Gordon Manda (38) were arrested by the Police. The four appeared at the Carolina Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 04 March 2024. The four suspects were arrested in the early hours of Monday (04 March 2024). During their court appearance, the case was postponed to 06 March 2024 for further investigation meanwhile all the four suspects remained in custody. According to information, it is alleged that the stock owner from a certain farm in Groenvlei opened a case of stock theft on 03 February 2024, whereby four sheep valued at about R13 000 were stolen. An investigation led the team of men and women in Blue from Carolina with their counterparts from Elukwatini Stock Theft Unit to two suspects, in the early hours of that Monday around 02:00. Further investigation revealed that the cattle were sold. This information led to the arrest of two more suspects. These two were also charged for possession of suspected stolen stock.
The management of the SAPS in Mpumalanga appreciated the work done by the members, and sent a stern warning to the public to stop buying stolen properties as it can land them behind bars.
