GQEBERHA - While police were still busy processing a murder crime scene, an 18-year-old brazen murder suspect returned to the street and was swiftly apprehended.

It is alleged that on Friday, 15 March 2024, at about 14:45, an argument emanated between two rival gang members in front of a house in Dinsmore Road in Shauderville. Dominic Sebastian Ruiters, aged 36, ignored the suspect and proceeded to enter his mother’s house when the suspect followed him and shot him multiple times.

It is further alleged that the suspect returned to the street and was arrested. The motive for the murder is gang related.

The suspect is also detained on a charge of illegal possession of a firearm which resulted from an incident which took place on 9/03 when SAPS Gelvandale Tracing team members spotted the suspect walking with a firearm in the area. As he was chased by police, he jumped over a wall and tossed the firearm. He was not arrested at the time and an enquiry was opened. The 9mm pistol recovered was reported stolen in Mangaung. Since the incident, the suspect had been sought by police.

He is expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 18 March 2024, on charges of murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
