WESTERN CAPE - The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner praised the efforts by the Investigating officer and everyone who played a vital role in the conviction and sentencing of 53-year-old Benjamin Mzingisi Mfamana and 38-year-old Nkosana Elefu. Initial reports reveal that on Wednesday 09 September 2020, De Doorns SAPS registered a case of murder for further investigation. According to reports one male was shot and killed. Police members witnessed how two unknown men ran away from the crime scene. On the same day members managed to arrest one of the two suspects Benjamin Mzingisi Mfamana who led them to the arrest of the second suspect Nkosana Elefu. As a result, both accused’s parole were revoked and they remained behind bars for the duration of the trial. The case was then transferred to Cape Town High Court where both were convicted and found guilty of murder and possession of illegal firearm and ammunition. On Thursday 29 August 2024, both accused were sentenced to 25 years direct imprisonment in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on the murder charges and 10 years imprisonment for the illegal possession of firearm and 5 years for the illegal possession of ammunition.
