PARKTOWN - An integrated Operation Vala Umgodi resulted in the arrest of 18 suspected illegal miners in Bekkersdal and Westonaria, West Rand District on Monday 08 April 2024.

The team also seized the following tools used by illegal miners:

• 11 gas cylinders
• Seven gages
• One phenduka
• One cutting torch
• 17 Crush pots

A multi-disciplinary Operation Vala Umgodi, consisting of various law enforcement agencies that include South African Police Service and South African National Defence Force, is continuing to yield positive results in Gauteng.
