Today at approximately 03:50, Pinetown Visible Policing members arrested two suspects aged 28 and 30 for business robbery. The members were doing normal patrols in Westmead area when they were flagged down by two petrol attendants next to a petrol filling station. The petrol attendants pointed at two suspects who were running towards nearby bushes. Police gave chase and two suspects were arrested and one of them was found in possession of a toy gun.

It is alleged that at about 03:40 the suspects entered a filling station along Alexander road and posed as customers. One of them bought cigarette and other one pulled out a firearm and demanded cash from the cashier. Suspects fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. They were taken to Pinetown police station for detention and they will be charged for business robbery. They are expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni applauded the members for the speedy arrest of the suspects. “We as the South African Police Service will not tolerate any crime and will always make sure criminals are kept behind bars where they belong,” she said.
