Media Statement POLOKWANE - The Police in Namakgale arrested a 20-year-old male suspect for sexually assaulting a 73-year-old woman, on Friday, 26 April 2024 at round 03:00 at Majeje village. Áccording to information the suspect intruded the house of the victim, who was sleeping alone and was surprised by a male standing next to her bed. He apparently ordered her to be quiet and threatened to kill her if she screamed. He then strangled her, and got on top of her and undressed himself. He sexually assaulted her however, the victim bit his finger and he fled the scene leaving behind his sandals. The elderly woman screamed for help and her neighbours responded. She informed them about the incident and the Police were alerted. A case of sexual assault was registered for further investigations. The suspect was traced and arrested on the spot. The Provincial Commissioner of South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has applauded the Police for arresting the suspect. The suspect will appear before Lulekani Magistrate's Court on Monday, 29 April 2024. The Police investigations are continuing. Ends
