Manhunt of two unknown male suspects who committed robbery with a firearm activated in Giyani policing precinct

POLOKWANE - A manhunt of two unknown male suspects who committed robbery with a firearm incident at First National Bank (FNB) parking area in Masingita mall on Friday, 30 April 2024 at about 14:30, has been activated by the police in Giyani under Mopani District.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a 72-year-old male victim, a Principal by profession together with an Administrative Officer drove a blue VW Polo motor vehicle to a local bank in Malamulele and withdrew a substantial amount of cash.

The duo returned to the school premises to pay the employees and remained with another substantial amount of money. Afterward, they proceeded to Giyani town with the objective to print school documents at Masingita mall.

On arrival, the victim took out another money and concealed the remaining inside the motor vehicle. The Administrative Officer took out the school laptop and they vacated the motor vehicle.

Unexpectedly, two unknown male suspects accosted the duo in possession of firearms and the colleague started to run towards FNB bank but one suspect chased her and robbed an Acer I5 laptop valued at R13 000-00.

The second suspect approached an elderly man and took a substantial amount of cash in his possession together with a cellphone valued at R1900-00. Suddenly, the two male suspects ran towards a Hyundai SUV vehicle that was also parked a few meters away and fired one shot before fleeing the crime scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

Nobody sustained any injuries during the incident.
