Media Statement POLOKWANE - An unknown male suspect was fatally shot during a shoot-out incident with the police in Levubu policing precinct, Vhembe District, on Friday, 03 May 2024 at about 11:00. Levubu SAPS Detectives members were summoned to attend a business robbery incident that took place at Tshinda village. Upon arrival, the members were informed that three unknown male suspects robbed a Tuckshop Owner of an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene driving the victim's motor vehicle. The trio allegedly headed to Tshakhuma's direction and the police proceeded to the area until they found them at Tshakhuma, Mavhulana village next to Lutheran church. It is reported that the suspects started firing multiple shots upon seeing the police approaching. The police retaliated and resulted in one male suspect fatally wounded during the shooting ordeal. Further information is that, one suspect managed to flee the scene evading an arrest but his 32-year-old accomplice was imminently apprehended without any injuries at the scene. The deceased was found in possession of a firearm. One of the SAPS members sustained gunshot wounds and currently admitted in hospital while his colleague suffered minor scratches on his right hand. A manhunt of the third suspect is underway and police request anyone that can assist with the identification and location of the deceased's family to urgently contact the Investigating Officer, Sergeant Madzivhandila Nyambeni on 082 319 9622 or Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or nearest police station or MySAPSApp.
