Media Statement PRETORIA - The South African Police Service in Pretoria Central took to the streets today aiming to create awareness about crime in the CBD. Members of the public were cautioned to safeguard their valuable items especially during the festive season. Stokvel club members were also cautioned to halt from sharing their saving stokvel cash out amount with the public, as this makes them vulnerable to robbery crimes. Furthermore, members of the public were warned about bogus sales persons commonly known as ‘half price’ who take advantage of shoppers / customers in clothing stores, furniture stores and shopping malls promising to get items at half price, then disappear with the money. Members of the public were urged to seek assistance inside the store and refuse to be assisted by unknown persons. Meanwhile they were sensitised to refrain from handing strangers their cell phones. The team visited businesses owners and shop assistants within Bloed Mall and surrounding areas providing crime prevention safety tips to safeguard their premises to reduce business robberies. Motorists were also advised to be vigilant and avoid non secured parkings.
