KIMBERLEY - The SAPS in the Northern Cape welcomes the 10-year rape sentence that was recently handed down to a 26-year-old rapist.

On 30 December 2021 at about 21:00, the 21-year-old female victim went to sleep at her home in Homelite, Kimberley. She woke up the next morning and discovered her neighbour, who was naked, in her bed, he was subsequently arrested.

The accused was found guilty and sentenced in the Kimberley Regional Court to 10 years’ direct imprisonment for rape and was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Detective Warrant Officer Conrad de Jongh of the Galeshewe SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit conducted the investigation that led to the outstanding sentence of the GBVF perpetrator.
