WESTERN CAPE - The Hawks' South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau team based in Bellville in conjunction with Border Police based at the Cape Town International Airport have on 06 June 2024, arrested a 70-year-old suspect on charges of dealing in drugs.

The Hawks received information regarding a foreign national that is an alleged drug mule leaving South Africa. Information was immediately operationalised. Suspect was spotted and upon searching his laggage, packets of crystal methamphetamine (tik) was found in a hidden compartment.

The team seized 4.1 kg of tik to the value of R600 000-00.

He will make his first appearance at the Bellville Magistrates Court on 10 June 2024.

The Provincial Head of the Hawks in the Western Cape, Major General Makgato commended the swift reaction by the team that led to the interception of the drug trafficker.
